A Dark Fantasy Author Branding Session with Rebecca
Fantasy sessions are always a favorite of mine!! When Rebecca contacted me I was super excited. She said about her style: “I like to be on the dark/gothic side, but in a semi modern way,” which is absolutely a vibe I love.
She was looking for a photo shoot to for two things: 1) her 30th birthday treat to herself and 2) something that she can use as an up and coming New Adult Fantasy author- something between a headshot and a Victorian era portrait, with a little bit of a Bellatrix LeStrange vibe.
We had a lot of fun with that concept in the studio! In this blog post are a few of her favorites from our photoshoot in my Mid Michigan Studio.
“I've been writing since I was in elementary school and often teased by my teachers for my overactive imagination. I even won a few state-wide poetry contests for students. Through the years I drafted several stories, but it wasn't until the COVID pandemic, and a decently successful posting of an online Fallout 4 fan fiction, that I finally dedicated my attention to writing a full novel.
My current project is a New Adult Dark Fantasy that delves into the lives of three individuals all connected by a dark god called "The Tynan." Callista- Chosen by the Tynan as a magic wielding witch so that she may choose a life for herself instead of living as an indentured servant to her family. Leo- the Emperor of the Three Nations who concerns himself more with his personal qualms instead of paying attention to the needs of his subjects. And Adham- an Inquisitor of the Church, vowed to eliminate those touched by the Tynan's magic.
It's a story meant to emphasize the domino effect of people's actions upon the world around them, from someone of great importance to someone of considerable insignificance. I wanted to build a world that not only showed the dangers of our decisions but also how a single person can make all the difference. Toss a little magic, spice, and political intrigue into the mix, and that's my book!” ~ Rebecca
