Headshots session in the studio! Jake is a Williamston local and is headed out for a new job and location. Congrats on your upcoming adventures!

If you're planning a headshots photo session - below are a few tips for your photoshoot:

  1. Schedule your session at the right time of day: If you feel your best in the morning or afternoon, that’s when we want to plan your session! Aiming for the time you feel most refreshed and put together will help you feel more confident and relaxed during the shoot, giving more natural smiles and expressions. For outdoor or on location sessions we do need to work with the light or venue limitations which may take a little more planning but is super easy to do.

  2. Get a good night's sleep! Make sure to get plenty of rest the night before your photo shoot! A good night’s sleep prevents bloodshot eyes and puffy skin. This will help you look and feel your best, and avoid looking tired or worn out.

  3. Hydrate and avoid alcohol: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your photoshoot to make sure your skin looks fresh with that hydrated healthy glow. Avoid alcohol the night before the shoot - it dehydrates you, can give your skin a blotchy red hue, and generally makes you look tired. You definitely want to avoid any kind of hangover!!

  4. The wardrobe: You want an outfit that reflects your personal style and the purpose of the headshots. Solid colors keep the focus more on you, so I generally suggest to avoid busy patterns unless it’s a part of your brand or signature style. Make sure your outfit is clean and pressed, and bring a few options to the shoot in case you do want to change it up. Most of our photoshoots include the option for multiple outfits, so take advantage of that! We’ll always want to start with your favorite one.

  5. Grooming: Getting a haircut, trimming your facial hair, and making sure your nails are clean and trimmed. If you wear makeup, keep it simple and natural, or true to your normal style and brand.

  6. Relax and be yourself: During the shoot I’ll guide you through all the poses so you don’t have to worry about what to do with your hands or how to stand. I make sure your hair is landing right and always adjust the lighting for the best possible photos of you! Studio sessions are always a lot of fun!
