Test shoot with with Amy Lewis and Desiree Lacole! These two women are incredibly talented and fun to work with. We did several looks for this shoot varying from light and natural to dramatic with a dark red lipstick.
And the addition of... dry ice! This was so much fun to do. I've worked with dry ice several times outdoors, but never for anything quite like this. (Inspo- the magical Sue Bryce, photographers you can check her out on creativeLive.com! She's a portrait master). This last look, expertly blended with gold and bronze shadows, was my favorite.
A few tips..
*dry ice will burn your skin, so use oven mitts or some very thick gloves to avoid touching it. You may need a hammer or mallet to break it.
*we used rubbermaid tupperware to put the water/dry ice in, which is both low to the ground, and somewhat sturdy. Glass would probably break from the rapid and dramatic temperature changes. I've also used empty ice cream buckets.
*hot water produces more fog than cold
*plan your poses and shoot fast! Fog only lasts a few minutes so knowing what you're doing ahead of time can make a huge difference. For bigger stuff or outdoors shoots, I always end up compositing layers of the fog from different photos into the image.

"Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree." -Emily Bronte
I've fallen in love with wild locations and beautiful trees, elegant gowns and long, flowing fabric...
This skirt is a few short panels sewn together with about a four yard length of fabric. It was incredibly simple to create, and mixed with a corset (this one was from VS), it create's an incredibly dreamy dress. Originally blue and white, I altered the coloration of the gown for the more ethereal world filled with vibrant autumn golds.

My photoshoot with Molly the Mermaid was amazing. We did several locations, and at each one we had an audience. It was splendid, and children were definitely in awe. One little girl walked over with her mother. Super nervous and excited that there was a mermaid at HER beach, she just had to say hi. It was so adorable! Inspired by that, we're getting together soon to do mini sessions, so anyone who dreams of meeting a mermaid can do so and have amazing photos of it! Below is a Before and After of the Mermaid Lagoon with Molly Cunningham (I love Before and Afters!). We shot this in Okemos at a local park in the river. Be careful of rocks! Those were actually REALLY difficult to get around on and the rushing rapid in the middle of the river was intense. Molly is a very brave mermaid!
You never know who you'll meet at the beach! My absolute favorite photo from our shoot was of Molly meeting a hatchling dragon... He's the same breed as Dany's dragons from Game of thrones, lovingly hatched for me by the magical Ravendark Creations.
